About this film
Title: Newlyn Harbour Running time: 2'19" SynopsisNewlyn Harbour is the largest fishing village in Britain, but the fishermen and the people of the village are faced with making some difficult decisions if they want their village - and industry - to survive. Plans to commercialise the harbour, or introduce retail and pleasure boats, could save the industry but would also fundamentally change the character of Newlyn forever. Newly Harbour is a short documentary following a typical day, from catch to market. It aims to both document a tradition that may soon die out, and to capture my impressions of the harbour and its fishermen.

About the film maker
I'm a Palestinian-British documentary filmmaker and journalist based in London. My work to date has focused on issues of human rights and social justice in North Africa and the Middle East, but I've recently started working on slower, UK-based films dealing with issues of subtle social and cultural transformations.

Definitely the start of something beautiful.
Admittedly I was still waiting for the scenes that I may find offensive.

Simple Beauty
I disagree w/ su-su. I think Saeed captured the beauty in the simplistic. The life of a fisherman is not a glamorous one and the film shouldn't imply that, nor should it evoke "excitement." The film shows the monotony of the fishermen's day to day living, yet captures the sadness in their eyes w/ their awareness that the aspects of their loved trade, most especially the brotherhood of it, may soon be gone. I enjoyed it.

Newlyn Harbour
Very Bland and Boring. No creative Passion, I'm sorry its just so basic and easy to put together on I MOVIE, the only exiting thing about this is the Synopsis. Anyone can do this Saeed just add Music and here you go.
I like the music I'd love to put it on my Home movies.
